Need for the AANAPISI Program
The Highline service area suffers from a significant lack of educational attainment, with steep high school dropout rates, low ESL to college transition rates, and modest college graduation rates. The AA&PI population within Highline’s service area reflects even lower success rates; nearly one-fifth of all Highline AA&PI residents are high school dropouts, which is more than 150% higher than the general population. Social barriers, economic disadvantage, and cultural homogenization are all contributing factors.
